Above and underwater shot from the Palau Pacific Resort pool
Beach of the Palau Pacific Resort
One of the famous Rock Islands...
This photo and the next two were taken on "Orange Beach" Peleliu the landing location for Operation Stalemate II during WWII. The battle for Peleliu had the highest US death toll in the Pacific Theater. Today, it's pure serenity.
As I was eating breakfast, a rainbow appeared. Finishing quickly I rushed to my room to retrieve my camera...only to be thwarted by the high humidity fogging my lens. Fortunately the rainbow endured for about 15 minutes.
A group going out for a paddle. The concrete approach to the water is old seaplane ramp the predates WWII. The overgrown ruins of the control tower can be found on nearby hill.
Jellyfish Lake is land-locked lake on one of the rock islands and a favorite snorkeling spot. It's populated with many thousands of non-stinging jellyfish. The water below 15m is hydrogen sulfide...and the permanent resting place of my hotel key.
